Abstract

In our analysis, we will seek to reflect on the strategies employed in the translation of this work from an ecotranslation perspective, in which the Chilean children´s and young adult readers approaches, for the first time, some classic texts that make up the anthology and present various elements of Brazilian nature that shape the experience of the characters in the Lobatian narratives. Based on some elements examined from the flora and fauna native to Brazilian geography, it is possible to approach an 'ecoethical' perspective of children´s and young adult literature translation. With no intention of questioning traditional practices of literary translation for these readers, this article highlights the foreignizing strategies used in the Chilean translation project, which aimed to preserve cultural aspects that encompass a unique and irreplaceable Brazilian experience. The reflections developed in this work are theoretically supported by the postulations of Antoine Berman and Michael Cronin, among others
