Abstract
This article examines the function of urban landscapes in the novels Mrs Dalloway (1925) and Este domingo (1966), taking into account similitudes and differences from a comparative focus that stresses reciprocal and non-hierarchical relationships between the works. In particular, the study explores the way in which landscapes appeal to subjects not only through gratification, but most importantly, from a sense of threat expressed in two critical spaces associated to the writings of Woolf and Donoso: moments of being and obscenity. Rooted in distinctive poetics and narrative resources, both spaces place subjectivities on trial outside the realm of representations, and closely connected with landscape nets that reveal the interdependence between the exteriority of the landscape and the interiority of the subject.
