Resumo
El artículo busca valorar un marco conceptual para interpretar la religión en América latina en el s. XXI. A partir de las condiciones de movilidad, globalización y/o distanciamiento –producto de la pandemia del Covid-19- se plantean desafíos para comprender la religiosidad en las instituciones religiosas y más allá de ellas. Junto a ello, las condiciones actuales de globalización provocan un escenario social distinto al de la teorización de los fundadores de la disciplina sociológica; con lo que se hace necesario analizar las categorías religiosas de la teoría social clásica, donde lo sagrado/profano y la magia/religión presentan características distintas, desde el contexto latinoamericano, a las formuladas por Durkheim y Weber. El artículo se centra en la lived religion, como un enfoque de análisis contemporáneo de la religiosidad latinoamericana, y propone que ciertas religiones otorgan un rasgo encantado a América latina que cuestiona la tesis del desencanto del mundo de Weber -por la presencia de espíritus o por la interrelación de prácticas mágicas con religiosas.
